Thanks Veron for sharing your Bintan experience. The japanese restaurant looks really good :)

I would like to add a side note because as far as I understand, Hotels in Bintan don’t accept Sing dollars anymore !

i have just qualified for 7 days here with my party plan company. can you tell me is the shopping cheap?
do you know how much the elephant ride is?
is all the stuff in singapore money or is it in indonesia money?
any info you can give me would be great

In reply to ksc3. That's great! Maybe you can visit Tanjung Pinang. I heard that's the place where locals eat and shop so the things would be more affordable.

My wife and I stayed at the resort over the New Years holiday. The food (like the accomodations) was terrific, but way overpriced. To add insult to injury. my credit card was charged twice for our stay. Have you ever tried to get a refund from an Indonesian Hotel? I recommend you give this place a pass and stay at one of the better value resorts near the ferry.

Good Morning Veron,

Remember staying at one of the villa…..

Can’t remember much about the food…but the Golf Buggy was fun, especially when it was rainning…… the swimming pools are ok….but I prefer the ones at Nirwana somehow….I remember paying some stuffs in IDR…it was allowed and you get a better deal too…..there’re so many local people working there…and most likely they would rather pay in IDR rather than SGD ?

Another interesting thing was having one or two huge Komodo Dragons waiting for us at the door of the Villa ….they gave us quite a big shock, especially the one who opened the door…..

Very magnificent animals….

dipak: Have fun in Bintan! neo: Everything we saw was expensive, to the extent that we didn't buy anything at all! I think you would find cheaper stuff outside of the resort areas. If only there was enough time for us to venture out, then I would be sure to report over here :P Gallivanter: You're coming to Singapore? Cool! Bintan is an hour's ferry ride away. The resorts in Singapore are nice too :)

My company owns a VILLA over there…guess which one….
Lunch for 2 can cost over S$78 over there and that really scared me away from BINTAN forever….Hahaha

Its my desire to visit that place and i am planning too. lets c how i will get experienced on there, hopefully i will also get enjoy like you but food quite expensive but never mind, i will try to find reasonable too. but a lovely beach experience u got , that is so valuable in this boring life. i will b back when i will return back from bintan. lets go bintan.

Hey! We went to that Pasar Oleh Oleh place too! We didn’t enjoy our time there and couldn’t find anything to buy too, much as we wanted to. More on that in my Day 2 post.

I stayed in another resort at Bintan that accepted both rupiah and SGD. Then they took us to a small shopping area at Pasar Oleh Oleh. Shops there quoted prices in SGD. Prices weren’t cheap. It was no difference from shopping in Singapore.
